TASKS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Restraining patients, administering medication, nail clipping, anal gland expression, ear cleaning, radiology, pharmacy, cleaning cages, feeding and medicating boarding and hospitalized patients, maintaining a clean and organized treatment area and hospital and other nursing duties.

Providing customer service in a polite and timely manner, able to answer multiple phone lines, handle stressful and emotional situations, scheduling appointments, client communication, client education, checking in/out of patients and handling of payments, filing and computer data input. Experience in the veterinary field preferred.

Animal care such as walking pets on a routine schedule, feeding, bathing, brushing; monitoring health and condition of animals while boarding and other attendant duties; maintaining a clean and sanitary environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

Highly motivated, responsible, organized self-starter who take initiative with minimal supervision; Effective communicator, with a background in customer service, working in a team environment to support the doctor-client relationship; Patience, energy, ability to lift 50lbs, ability to stand for longer periods; Comfortable and confident around cats and all dog, and select smaller species; A genuine love for animals and demonstrates an interest in all aspects of animal welfare; Ability to perform well in a busy environment; Previous animal care or reception experience will be considered an asset – but we are willing to train the right candidate; The animals in our care require attention seven days a week, must be flexible and able to work weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays.

Qualifications:

  • Professional, pleasant, engaged, clear communicator who is attentive and respectful to referring veterinarians, clients and co-workers.
  • Must be able to multi task and work independently.
  • Computer experience (Excel, Word) and operation of office equipment such as copy/fax machine and credit/debit terminal.
  • AVImark Veterinary software knowledge a plus.
  • Must possess basic math skills to determine proper deposits and process payments.
