How do you fit in?

The Ridley Island Propane Export Facility is the first West Coast Propane Export Facility in Canada. This position will offer unique challenges and exceptional opportunities for growth and development within a newly emerging industry in Canada. AltaGas requires an enthusiastic, proactive, and self-motivated individual to join our team in the Prince Rupert region.

Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, this position is responsible for the daily oversight of RIPET Terminal Operations and production.


What you’ll be doing: 

  • Coordinate day to day Operations of the Facility, Offloading Rack and berth
  • Providing support during off hours & weekends when required
  • Process & Equipment troubleshooting
  • Daily work planning including (but not limited to) the following activities:
    • Completion of Maximo work orders
    • Completion of all site documentation requirements
    • Shift changeover communication & documentation
  • Ensures that workers have adequate certifications, orientation and training for any activities occurring on worksites
  • Leadership in EHS programs & requirements
  • Participation in Collective agreement & bargaining
  • Responsible for Operations schedule & timesheet approvals
  • Ensure Warehouse & inventory procedures are carried out
  • Responsible for all operational communications/updates
  • Team Building & Leadership
  • Coordination and execution of Training & Progression Program and training of new employees
  • Assist in planning CN & RTI logistics; RTI Rail yard and Rail car shipments
  • Coordinate with Operations Superintendent to develop site specific procedures.  Completes ongoing review of SSPs for continuous improvement
  • Coordinates site work within spending authority including SCM requisitions and P-Card purchases
  • Coordination with Management as required to execute critical management & system processes including (but not limited to) the following:
    • Management of Change
    • Directives & Policies
    • Non-Conformance Reports
    • Hazard Identification
    • Incident Investigation
    • Safe Work Permits & Critical Job Checklists


What you must have:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Gas Plant or Terminal Operation, with proven leadership abilities as demonstrated by your ability to plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the work of a multi-disciplinary team engaged in the operation and maintenance of the facility
  • Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering certificate; Preference given to candidates who hold technical certifications (3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate, Mechanical and/or GPO)
  • Will be required to obtain Rail Training certificate & MFSO (Marine Facility Security Officer) certificate
  • Passion and commitment to the training and development of the team
  • Proficiency in the use of windows-based applications
  • Exposure to EHS management systems, PSM systems such as Maximo, will be considered an asset
  • Strong, professional verbal and written communication skills

The Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal is located on Ridley Island near Prince Rupert, British Columbia, on a section of land leased by Ridley Terminals Inc. from the Prince Rupert Port Authority. The brownfield site has a history of industrial development and benefits from excellent railway access and a world class marine jetty with deep water access to the Pacific Ocean.
