POSITION OVERVIEW | ||
Hecate Strait Employment Development Society is a non-profit organization governed by a board of directors with a mandate to provide employment programming and training to enhance the opportunities of the residents of the North Coast and Haida Gwaii.
The Settlement Worker collaborates on a small team to deliver settlement services, and coordinates with other HSEDS programs. The role will be working in our settlement office in Prince Rupert.
The Settlement Worker – Settlement and Immigration Services is mainly responsible to work directly with clients on settlement plans, liaise with other service providers on immigration and settlement in Prince Rupert, and plan and deliver client events.
The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Immigration and Settlement program coordinator. This is a part-time position (20 hours a week)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | ||
1) Provide orientation information, referrals and settlement counseling services to newcomers; 2) Using a client centered approach, conduct an assessment and assist newcomers in the development of a personalized settlement action plan; 3) Through case management and follow-up contacts, support the achievement of positive client outcomes; 4) Plan, implement and deliver workshops, life-skills and education courses; 5) Track all client service activities and enter into reporting systems; 6) Facilitate appropriate referrals and client access to other services in the community; 7) Conduct community outreach and market our services to the community and potential clients; 8) Participate in regular program, staff and regional meetings, as well as other internal and external committees as required; 9) Develop, document and report templates on client outcomes; 10) Prepare and submit statistical and progress reports to supervisor of activities in a timely manner; 11) Contribute to Immigrant and Settlement Services social media and email communication plan; 12) Organize and assist special events for newcomers; 13) Obligation to uphold HSEDS and client confidentiality agreement; Assist with other activities as required; |

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS | ||
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
· Become familiar with HSEDS policies and procedures, programming objectives and client service philosophy, and understand clearly his/her role in achieving related contractual goals and outcomes; · Must have strong customer service skills; · Knowledge of community resources and services in Prince Rupert; · Interview, assessment, analytical and problem solving skills; · Ability to work effectively with other service providers; · Ability to work productively in an MS Office environment; · Excellent oral and written English skills · Capable of communicating cross-culturally. · Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy in data collection and reporting; · Able to pass and maintain a criminal record check; · Second language desirable;
