Description

Reporting to the General Manager, the Service Delivery Manager (SDM) is responsible for planning, monitoring and reporting of all conventional transit service activities for PWTransit’s operation in Prince Rupert. The SDM provides direction to Transit Operators and other staff to ensure that transit service is delivered to the community as per Company and Municipality policy/contract parameters and company expectations.

Qualifications:

Education and Related Work Experience

  • Requires college education or significant industry experience in public transit in either a management or supervisory role
  • Several years of transit industry experience, specifically experience in supervising transit operations staff
  • Class 2 driver’s license or higher with air brake endorsement

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, organize, manage, and evaluate the operations and budget of PWTransit’s Prince Rupert operation
  • Direct the workforce to achieve maximum operational effectiveness and transit system efficiencies
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and support to the operations and maintenance staff
  • Direct the activities of staff in relation to transit operations including dispatching, routing, and tracking vehicle maintenance etc.
  • Ensure that all PWTransit staff are aware of Company policies / procedures and monitor compliance
  • Plan, develop, and implement health and safety, and security programs and activities
  • Monitor operations to ensure that staff complies with policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations
  • Assist with the negotiation and authorize contracts within approval authority limits, direct procurement activities related to transit operational needs
  • Direct and manage governance and regulatory compliance procedures related to transit activities
  • Forecast, document and report Key Performance Indicators to measure the effectiveness of the transit operations and develop strategies to correct problem areas
  • Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints
  • Assist in the negotiations with vendor representatives for services and preferential rates
  • Recommend capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property to increase efficiency and services of transit operations
  • Participate in union contract negotiations
