Job Summary
Pacific Northwest Ship & Cargo Services is currently looking to fill a permanent position as a Senior Operations position in Prince Rupert. As a Senior Operations you will conduct vessel operations from both a ship and cargo perspective for grain, logs, concentrates, petcoke and liquids. You will communicate with and develop strong personal relationships with customers, vendors and ship’s masters. Utilizing your experience and technical knowledge to raise the level of services PNW provides.

As Senior Operations (NOC code 1315) you will be accountable for the following:
All aspects of vessel and cargo agency in Northern BC. working with a team of respected individuals to ensure operations run smoothly.
Primary communications with vessels and Owners.

Ensure ALL communication is answered on a daily basis  Build strong personal relationships  Disbursement Estimates as per Owners requirements.  Advise Accounts Manager of Disbursement estimates, revisions to estimates, cash requirements, and questions from Owners.  Ensure funds are received as per estimates and in hand prior vessel sailing.  Extensive Knowledge of commercial documentation.  Experience with CBSA, TC, CFIA and BCMEA.  Delegate Documentation, Customs, Immigration, BCMEA  Be able to resolve complex, urgent issues that arise related to ships at anytime day or night.  Be aware of destination port requirements  Use AOS (an in house vessel management system)  Commercial Information o Be familiar with various Charter parties and their terms. o Be aware of “sales agreement” terms o Respect our Clients proprietary information
 Salary – 45,000 to 50,000 annual salary paid semi monthly  Benefits – a comprehensive extended benefits plan, including: dental, LTD, Life and eye care.  Applicant must have a personal car for which they will be Reimbursed for auto usage.  Cell Phone and computer provided
Qualification Requirements
 Minimum High School Graduation, preferably post secondary education.  Minimum 5 years ship agency experience, with an excellent general geographic knowledge. Some commercial knowledge/experience of shipping contracts and international trade. Be well respected by vendors and competitors in the industry.
 Must have an excellent knowledge of Microsoft office products and a simple server system.  Prior industry experience on ships, as an agent and/or broker both in Canada and abroad. Some experience with a high customer service business.  Minimum 3 years Experience doing port estimates, manage job costs.  The ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly and concisely with people from all over the world, with style and personality.  A 2nd or 3rd language would be an asset.  Work well in an open office, with a team environment, diligence, patience, helpful to colleges, and the ability to work with minimal supervision, but able to ask questions if outside the comfort zone. Have a good memory for details and the ability to multi-task
