United Way of Northern BC (UWNBC) serves individuals and families in the entire Northern BC region. From north of Williams Lake to the Yukon border, Haida Gwaii to the Alberta border. This 5-regional district area represents approximately 300,000 people UWNBC also funds bc211, a province-wide health and human service information website and web chat, which connects individuals and families to important resources and support. UWNBC is working collaboratively in new and innovative ways to change lives and build stronger communities. Job Summary:

Develop, retain and significantly grow the level of financial support and commitment to United Way of Northern BC (UWNBC). Maintain and continuously develop relationships with key constituents at various levels within assigned company and individual accounts. Identify viable opportunities for additional involvement with UWNBC. Work closely with these constituents to plan, organize and implement campaign and other United Way activities to ensure a successful, stronger and sustained United Way commitment. Aggressively identify, recruit and develop new business prospects to ensure continued campaign growth.

Deliverables and Responsibilities:

  • Take initiative, think innovatively and build partnerships to carry out the Mission, Vision and Values of UWNBC.
  • Achieve established organization financial goals for portfolio, assigned accounts, new donors and new business development.
  • Achieve assigned goals for number of donor or prospect calls and visits.
  • Aggressively identify, recruit and develop prospects for new business development on a year-round basis. New business can include workplace campaigns, corporate gifts, sponsorships, and gifts in kind.
  • Manage and nurture assigned accounts to develop stronger UWNBC relationships, commitment and workplace campaign support.
  • Maintain current and accurate information in UWNBC’s CRM database (Salesforce) and applicable tools on all prospects and assigned accounts.
  • Using data from Salesforce (CRM database), maintain consistent account contact and creatively explore and introduce additional opportunities, as appropriate (i.e. volunteerism, sponsorships, etc.).
  • Using Salesforce, analyze campaign potential and results for assigned accounts in order to develop market segments that will determine each account’s relationship and financial goals.
  • Using Salesforce, track progress and leverage data to provide strategic, targeted account management and excellent customer service. This may involve long-term strategic plans with aggressive goals.
  • Identify, cultivate and solicit individual donors and prospects at the leadership level.
  • Assist in growing membership and financial support in UWNBC’s donor segment groups.
  • Manage, lead and motivate campaign cabinet volunteers.
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and training according to campaign timetables.
  • Develop and execute an annual individual action plan with measurable goals that reflect division and UWNBC objectives.
  • Actively engage in business networking opportunities.
  • Provide high level of customer service and professionalism.
  • Promote a cooperative spirit among co-workers and other partners.
  • Travel to communities in the Northwest BC region as necessary (Smithers, Hazelton, Terrace, Prince Rupert, Kitimat, etc.)
  • Work flexible working hours as needed, including some weekends and evenings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requested Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, plus a minimum five (5) years’ experience in marketing, sales and/or fundraising, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills are critical to this position.
  • Effective time management is essential along with the ability to multi-task.
  • A demonstrated keen sense of relationship building is needed.
  • Must be computer proficient and detail oriented.
  • Experience with Microsoft programs including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database(s) an asset.
  • Experienced knowledge of the Northwest BC Region with preference given to those with a strong network of relationships.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of the need for community improvement.
  • Highly skilled in interpersonal and relational communication, both written and verbal.
  • Self-driven with the following demonstrated qualities: integrity/accountability, customer service, strategic thinking, diversity/inclusion (staff/volunteer), relationship building focused.
  • Ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret an extensive variety of mathematical information, circumstantial conditions and interpersonal information in order to successfully respond to donors, clients and internal or external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Valid BC driver’s license.
