Terms of Employment: This is a part time on-call position. During peak recreational fishing times the part time position will be based on ~20 hours per week and will require flexible working hours. However, this is only an estimate and may change. The number of hours per week will depend on the number of vessels fishing on any given week and how much data is collected and retrieved.
Position will be housed at the Skeena office of Ecotrust Canada in Prince Rupert, BC. Payment schedule is every two weeks and is based on contractor sending invoices to Ecotrust Canada.
Through a partnership with the North Coast Skeena First Nations Stewardship Society, Ecotrust Canada has installed an electronic monitoring (EM) system at the MK Bay Marina in Kitimat, BC. This system is collecting video footage of the boat launch, fuel dock and outer edge of the marina in order to capture daily data on number of recreational vessels coming and going. This project is a pilot to determine if this type of EM data can be used to complement the recreational fisheries data being collected by the Department of Fisheries via fly-overs and creel surveys.

The Video Data Analyst is responsible to Amanda Barney, General Manager of Marine Monitoring and will work under the day to day supervision of Brenna Boyle, Fisheries Project Coordinator in our Prince Rupert office. Both basic computer skills and organizational office skills are required for this position.
Video Analyst Duties and Responsibilities: Video analysts are responsible for the efficient collection of quality data from video footage of Kitimat Marina assigned to them by supervisors. Videos will be reviewed in order to record the following:
 Recreational vs. non-recreational vessels
 Vessels arriving and departing the boat launch and marina
 Identifying vessel features
Videos will be reviewed using a custom online database and which also serves as a data entry tool.
Training in use of this software will be provided but general computer literacy and experience in data
entry is an asset. You will be responsible for tracking the hours worked and reporting the information
every two weeks or as required.
 Previous experience with data entry, and good task management and tracking skills.
 Working knowledge of Excel and a high comfort level working with video software are assets.
 At-sea/river experience aboard recreational and/or food fishing vessels an asset.
 Good time management and organizational skills;
 Work well under pressure; who is reliable, very organized and disciplined;
 Ability to work independently with a high level of self-motivation as well as the ability to take
direction from managers and be a team player
