Description

The After School Sports and Arts Initiative offers free programs that support students who face barriers to participation in recreational activities.

These barriers include geographical access, financial need (families living in poverty or of low socio-economic standing), First Nations Status, children in foster care, and those students with challenging behavior or who are living with disabilities.

The programs offer a chance for students to participate in both sports and arts activities with specialized instruction. The Programs run Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday from 3-5 from October until June for students grade K-7 from both Tahayghen Elementary and Chief Matthews School.

The ASSAI is currently looking to build a team of instructors to provide quality programming in diverse arts and sports activities. Arts Leader 12hrs/week @ $25/hr Contract period October 1st to June 5th Responsible for planning and implementing arts activities with a focus on creativity and artistic processes through hands-on experiences.

This is a lead instructor role and the successful applicant should be comfortable teaching kids a variety of art forms. Collaboration ideas with local artists, projects, and space facilities are encouraged and will be supported by the coordinator as well as funding for supplies. Sports Leader 12hrs/week @ $25/hr Contract period October 1st to June 5th Responsible for planning and implementing sports activities with a focus on fundamental movement skills, development of physical literacy, and cooperative games.

This is a lead instructor role and the successful applicant should be comfortable teaching kids a variety of sports/physical activities. Person of Rapport (2) 9hrs/week @ $25/hr Contract period October 1st to June 5th

Responsible for assisting students and leaders in both arts and sports programming by providing positive behaviour support and in program assistance.

The ideal candidates will be skilled at building connections and establishing trust with young people and may already work in the school or have positive relations with students.
Requirements:
Valid First Aid Certification
Criminal Record Check for Vulnerable Sector
