The NCIL is a place-based initiative for people who are invested in the future of Prince Rupert to identify, prioritize and work together on tangible projects that build a resilient economy as a tool for community well-being. Position Summary
Reporting into the NCIL Manager, the NCIL Coordinator helps recruit and oversee the annual cohort of graduate student interns as they help bring capacity to local projects with local organizations in Prince Rupert. With good attention to details, a natural collaborator and an interest in social innovation practices, the NCIL Coordinator will have a proven passion for addressing Canada’s social and environmental challenges and in how local communities and First Nations can play a leading role in the solutions.

 

Responsibilities

 

Academic Partner Liaison:
  • Lead efforts of Masters student recruitment, engagement and administration with local and national academic partners.
  • Liaise with Mitacs Canada and ensure the process of student eligibility, funding allocation and the ongoing relationship is running smoothly and meeting reporting requirements.
Internship Coordination & Management:
  • Day-to-day support and co-management of annual cohorts of Masters student Project Coordinators.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of capacity development curriculum, materials, and workshops for the students, integrating social innovation and project management content.
  • Support the NCIL Manager in the strategic development and direction of the North Coast Innovation Lab, with particular focus on the engagement and participation of youth in the program’s activities and project development.
  • With the NCIL Manager, co-develop and co-deliver curriculum and events to help build professional and organizational capacity within Prince Rupert.
Data Collection & Evaluation:
    • Work closely with the NCIL Developmental Evaluator to ensure day-to-day NCIL activities align with the systemic and long-term program goals, in partnership with NCIL Manager.
    • Collect, synthesize and report NCIL project impacts and outcomes by gathering data, feedback and information from the community.
    • Co-identify community projects for students within Prince Rupert.

 

Qualifications & Skills
  • Outgoing, mission-driven and self-directed, with a passion for creating thriving and resilient local communities and a healthy and sustainable environment.
  • Completion of a university degree and a minimum of 3 years professional work experience.
  • Experience working for a non-profit or social enterprise, and working effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills and proven ability to foster relationships that deliver results.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively, and to advancing reconciliation.
  • Ideally, a permanent resident within the Prince Rupert community.
