Manager, Communications (Full Time)


Job Description

The Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce (PRDCC) is seeking a dynamic and engaged individual to join our team as Manager of Communications. Reporting to the Board of Directors and working in conjunction with the Manager, Finance and Admin and Community Partners, the Manager, Communications drives the strategic objectives and manages day to day operations of the PRDCC. This position coordinates communication services, provides administrative support in the best interests of Chamber Members and engages with local municipalities as well as other Chambers throughout the BC and Canadian Chamber Networks

This is a full time (35 hours per week) position.


  • Maintain Chamber website and social media
  • Creating and maintaining media campaigns
  • Preparation of weekly Chamber e-newsletter
  • Preparing letters, press releases and other written communications
  • Working on specific communication-based projects for partner groups
  • Attend and sit as a representative of Partner organizations on various communications or marketing committees as requested

Marketing and Events

  • Supporting Major Events Committees for all major events and programs including:
    • Sponsorship and donations
    • Volunteer commitments
    • Event logistics
    • Event Promotion
  • Ensures that programs and services meet Board policy guidelines and priorities
  • Develop and implement a marketing program that enables the Chamber to meet its objectives
  • Promote the value of membership and the benefit of chamber sponsorship as a value for business
  • Oversee the sale of programs and events with the goal of meeting or exceeding the annual operating plan objectives
  • Prepare the annual reports and submissions for fee for service contracts
  • Implement new value propositions of Chamber membership

Member Relations

  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders including members, partner, government and media relations
  • Responding to members, clients and public enquiries via telephone and in-person queries (reception services for partnership organizations)
  • Development of membership packages for distribution
  • Being aware of and understanding the benefits of all programs the Chamber offers
  • Meeting with potential members

Advocacy, Administration and Board Support

  • Keeping board and members informed of relevant news and information from partner and stakeholder organizations
  • Preparation of monthly board packages
  • Attend all Board meetings and those committee meetings assigned acting as a consultant to the Board and committees
  • Promote community awareness of the Chamber’s mission and goal
  • Participate in networking and community relations and activities on behalf of the Chamber
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders both inside and outside the Chamber and enlist their support for accomplishing tasks


This job will have the requirement for some after-hours work requiring flexibility of schedule. Extra hours may be banked and taken at a later day at a time mutually agreeable to all parties.
