Financial Coordinator QC (Part Time)


The Islands Wellness Society is an inclusive, community-based agency that provides a variety of services in a safe and supportive environment. These services endeavor to promote empowerment, overcome trauma, address violence, promote equality and enrich the lives of children and families on Haida Gwaii. We are funded through the Ministry of Public Safely and Solicitor General under the Victim Services and Crime Prevention Division, as well as the Ministry of Children and Family Development. We have 5 programs of service: Child Care Resource and Referral, Child and Youth Counseling, Outreach, Victim Services, and Women¹s Counseling. We also recently adopted the food bank, now called Feed the People Food bank.

The Financial Coordinator will work with the Program Coordinators and Board of Directors to organize and manage the financial and administrative aspects of the agency. The coordinator is responsible for the overall processing and recording of accurate financial information. This position is responsible to manage the payroll functions and personnel files, and act as liaison with associated agencies. Work will include management of agencies contractual obligations and legal obligations with government or other funders. This role also provides some Program Support, assiting Program Coordinators in planning and reporting, and supporting client services as needed.

Qualifications –Bookkeeping experience and basic accounting skills. Combination of relevant skills, experience & education.

Requirements – Proficient with Simply Accounting, and standard Office computer programs. Previous experience of contract management and budgeting. Knowledge of employment standards and society regulations. Professionalism, commitment to confidentiality, and an ability to work both autonomously & collaboratively as part of a concensus, non-heriarchical team.
