Environmental Field Technician (Part Time)

Khtada Environmental Services LP (“Khtada”) has an immediate opening for a qualified candidate to fill a casual/part-time position as an Environmental Field Technician out of Prince Rupert, British Columbia.

Khtada is a partnership between Metlakatla Development Corporation and Triton Environmental Consultants Limited, which was formed for the purpose of delivering superior environmental consulting services on BC’s North Coast. Employment will be administered through Metlakatla Development Corporation.

The ideal candidate will have strong field skills and be able to work independently or in a team setting. He/she must be able to respond promptly to work assignments and be prepared to mobilize on short notice to work at sites that may be based away from Prince Rupert. Primary responsibilities will be to assist in field assessments and environmental monitoring. As a condition of employment, these positions involve particular physical capabilities: being required to lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 20 kg; hike through varied terrain; work with a variety of equipment primarily in the field; work in marine environments and onboard watercraft, and under varied weather conditions.


  • Grade 12 completion or equivalent
  • Valid certifications such as First Aid, MED A3, SVOP, ROC-M, Electrofishing, Bear Aware, WHMIS, Swift Water Rescue, ATV Operator, etc.
  • Environmental Monitor Training or Environmental Technician Certification
  • Experience navigating using GPS unit, map, compass, and air photo
  • Physically fit and capable of doing field work in a safety conscious manner
  • Positive, team-oriented approach
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • BC Driver’s License is an asset
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to pay attention to details and carefully follow standard operating procedures
  • Must be a self-directed worker who can perform well with minimal supervision
  • Willing to learn processes
  • Must have approval from a physician to engage in physical activities and working with a variety of equipment and changing environments
