Description
Temporary full-time (35 hours per week) Early Childhood Educator for the Aboriginal Head Start Program from September 2019 until June 2020.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Assisting in developing and implementing culturally relevant methods/materials
- Working directly with children
- Short and long term planning
- Writing reports
- Assessing the level of performance in readiness skills
- Maintain, clean and organize preschool area
- Prepare snack
- Transportation of children Monday through Friday
- Complying with the Child Care Licensing Regulation
- Build positive relationships with children and their families. Maintain ongoing communication with all team members.
- Demonstrate positive child-adult interactions & ensure center policies and procedures are upheld.
- Maintain confidentiality; except in the case of abuse & neglect, which you are required to report by law.
Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education Certification or Assistant Early Childhood Education Certification
- Valid Child Safe First Aid Certification
- Reliable
- Experience with computers and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communications skills, written and verbal
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in an inclusive team environment
- Cultural sensitivity and knowledge of Aboriginal Culture and history
- Be physically and emotionally fit to work with young children
- The ability to maintain a positive, professional, non-judgmental attitude and the ability to maintain confidentiality
