PROGRAM: Infant/Supported Child Development
PAY GRID: BCGEU Rate Step 10
# Hrs. Weekly: 35 hrs – full-time * 15 hrs – part-time
START DATE: As soon as possible

Program Description: Provides support/direct care to children with special needs to stimulate and help develop their intellectual, physical and emotional growth

Summary of Requirements
EDUCATION: Early Childhood Education and Special Needs or Infant Toddler / Under Three Certificates
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years recent related experience OR Equivalent combination of education, training and experience

EXPERIENCE & PROFICIENCIES:

  • Plan, carry out and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children based on service plan
  • Develop strategies within daily programming and schedules to create an inclusive environment for indoor/outdoor, active/quiet and individual and group activities
  • Identify the abilities, interests and needs of children and develops individualized and group curriculum based on these
  • Report on progress, behaviours and other issues related to children. Contributes to reports for children moving on to elementary school. Maintains required records and statistics
  • Participate in preschool planning and evaluation of programs offered by the organization. Provides recommendations for change to the supervisor
  • Communicates with families about children’s growth and development
  • Reports on progress, behaviours, contributing to reports for children moving on to kindergarten
  • Discusses with parents, childcare/preschool centre staff and IDP/SCD Consultants with regard to unusual or problematic issues
  • Performs other related duties as required

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Access to and use of vehicle, Class 5 driver’s license with clear Driver’s Abstract
  • Clear Criminal Record Review
