Deckhand/Relief Mate (Full Time)

The Digby Island Ferry service is operated by the City of Prince Rupert and connects Digby Island with downtown

Prince Rupert. The successful candidate will be reliable, have a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.

Additionally, they must be able to work as a Mate when the schedule requires it.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mooring the Vessel;
  • Safe Loading & Unloading of the Vessel;
  • Assist in the Safe Navigation of the Vessel;
  • Respond to Emergencies; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Grade 12 Diploma.

Certification: The minimum requirement is a valid Chief Mate 150 Gross Tonnage, Domestic Certificate

and valid Marine Medical Certificate.

This position is a part of the Canadian Merchant Service Guild.
