Copper Bay Lodge in Sandspit is looking for a Chef

Start date is January 2, 2020

Job includes room and board in Sandpit, BC. We will offer a $500 signing bonus if you get the job. The wage is $5200 a month and $600usd – $1500usd per week (average around $800 – $1000usd a week). There are 4 guests a week and we have 3 guides, that is the only staff. One reason the tips are so high is that the chef does a lot of the housekeeping. We have a housekeeper that comes in on changeover days to help with cleaning however the rest of the week the chef takes care of daily upkeep.

There is a fair amount of baking cookies, brownies and treats. There is a fair amount of housekeeping as keeping the lodge spotless is of utmost importance. Guides live in a separate cabin so there is nothing to do in there, just the guest rooms. The 4 guests share 2 bathrooms, and the chosen chef will have their own private bathroom. Breakfast usually sees 2 guests leave at 6:30am with breakfast sandwiches to go. Breakfast sandwiches are very important to guests, and timing is crucial as there is a ferry to catch. The other 2 guests usually do a sit down at 7:30am. Everyone gets back around 6 or 6:30pm and we do appys and a plated 3 course dinner.

Accommodations – A private room in the main lodge. Entrance is right into the kitchen. Room is small, but has a large closet, single bed, and desk and is beachside with a view of the ocean.

  • You are responsible for all kitchen operations and clean up.
  • Keeping kitchen along with all freezers, refrigerators, and pantry organized and clean, which includes keeping a running inventory all dry and fresh produce, meats and dairy.
  • Keeping track of all kitchen supplies and keeping an eye on propane level for stove.
  • Overseeing all main lodge cleanup including dining room set up and tear down daily
  • Preparation of breakfast and lunch, sit in and to go, with dinner and an appetizer service before dinner all prepared daily. Meals are provided for up to 4 guests and up to 3 guides daily.
  • Daily guest bedroom and bathroom/clean up
  • Processing all guest and lodge linens Linens
  • Delegating and overseeing proper work of housekeeping staff.

Contract length: 6-12 weeks
