PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Support adults and their youth and children who have developmental delays and require support to enhance their social and life skills. | |
EDUCATION: Diploma in Human /Social Service field + one year experience working with children who have special needs OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience | |
EXPERIENCE & PROFICIENCIES:
Interview and assessment skills to identify client’s needs and risks Develop and implement short-term goals and issue specific intervention plans within program guidelines and in consultation with supervisor Liaise with and/or promote the interests of clients with other community service providers, professionals and school personnel as required Accompany clients and/or guardians to meetings and appointments as required Familiarity of family dynamics Understanding of various functional disorders Experience working with children/youth in group situations Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills Satisfactory word processing and reporting writing skills Thorough organizational skills while working with limited supervision OTHER REQUIREMENTS Clear criminal record check Access to vehicle to transport clients Class 5 driver’s licence with a clear driver’s abstract |
